Why do you need vitamins every day?
Vitamins and fatty acids are involved in practically all of the body's core processes - from energy production in cells to the workings of the immune system and heart. The body can't produce them itself, or only in limited amounts, so they need to be obtained regularly, through diet or by supplementing it. When the supply is insufficient, the whole system feels it - not just a single function.
Why is diet often not enough?
To get enough Omega-3 fatty acids from an ordinary diet, you'd need to eat oily sea fish regularly, several times a week - in reality, most people don't manage that day to day. It's similar with vitamin D, whose natural source is mainly sunlight - in a northern climate, especially in autumn and winter, it's simply lacking. That's why even a fairly balanced diet doesn't always cover the body's actual needs.
What happens when vitamins are lacking?
When the body lacks important nutrients over a long period, it usually doesn't show up suddenly and dramatically - rather gradually. You may feel increased fatigue, lower everyday energy, more frequent illness and slower recovery. Vitamin D deficiency is closely linked to immune and bone health, while insufficient Omega-3 can affect heart and brain function over the long term.
Why were these particular forms chosen?
The Omega-3 fatty acids in Preimmu® Ønly come from *Calanus finmarchicus* oil, where they exist in the form of wax esters - this provides slower, more gradual absorption compared with ordinary fish oil. The oil also contains natural astaxanthin, which gives it its characteristic ruby-red colour. Vitamin D, in turn, is added in the D3 (cholecalciferol) form - the form the body takes up and uses most effectively.
Research
- Energy metabolism Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D are involved in cellular metabolic processes that provide the body with energy for daily activity.
- Reducing fatigue Adequate levels of vitamin D and Omega-3 are associated with less everyday fatigue and weakness.
- Immunity Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system, helping the body respond more effectively to everyday strain and external factors.
- Antioxidants The astaxanthin naturally present in Calanus oil is an antioxidant that helps protect cells from oxidative stress.
- Brain function Omega-3 fatty acids, including DHA, are one of the components of brain cell membranes and are linked to normal brain function.
